This area was originally part of the Rancho Cucamonga Valley with the Mira Loma area becoming a portion of the Jurupa Valley more recently.
In 1882, Mira Loma was known as Stalder. Then in sequence, it was known as Mountain View, Pleasant Valley, Union, Union Joint and finally Wineville. It was changed in 1931 to Mira Loma, which means "view of the hills," as it is still known today.
